Monteverdi Choir: Schumann's Manfred

  • Usher Hall EH1 2EA Edinburgh Scotland (map)

The Monteverdi Choir will be performing Schumann's Manfred alongside the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, concluding a mixed programme of Schubert and Schumann conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Schumann’s powerful melodrama Manfred is a dramatic vision of heroism and remorse, inspired by the poem of the same name by Lord Byron. The Overture to Manfred is well-known and well-loved, enhanced in this Festival performance by the less familiar, but no less powerful, entractes, melodramas and choruses.
